Who Owns Sadaf Foods? The Family Behind the Flavor - Sadaf.com

A Family-Owned Brand Since Day One

Sadaf Foods is proudly family-owned and operated, founded in 1982 by two Iranian-American brothers who had one simple goal: to bring the flavors of home to their new community in Los Angeles.

What started as a small, immigrant-led business selling just 17 products has grown into one of the most recognized and trusted brands in the world of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and global foods — now offering over 1,200 products across spices, teas, olives, pickles, rice, preserves, and more.

The Soofer Family: From Iran to LA

The founders of Sadaf Foods, two Iranian brothers, came to the U.S. during a time of major cultural transition. Like many immigrants, they struggled to find the authentic foods they grew up with:

  • The saffron their mother used in rice

  • The fenugreek needed for their ghormeh sabzi

  • The sumac they sprinkled over kabob

Rather than accept that absence, they decided to do something about it.

But they didn’t do it alone. From the very beginning, their wives worked alongside them — helping with operations, packaging, customer service, and the countless behind-the-scenes details that kept the dream alive. It was truly a family effort.

Today, that tradition continues: their children are now actively involved in the business, carrying forward the vision of their parents and helping Sadaf grow while honoring its roots.

Family-Owned = Flavor + Integrity

When you buy Sadaf, you’re not buying from a faceless corporation. You’re buying from a multi-generational family business that believes in:

  • Transparency: You can pronounce every ingredient

  • Tradition: Our flavors are rooted in real regional recipes

  • Trust: Over 40 years of consistent quality

  • Community: We support local grocers, charities, and food access programs across Southern California

From Local Legacy to National Flavor

What began as a way to serve the Persian community of Los Angeles has since grown into something bigger: a brand that resonates across cultures, cuisines, and generations.

Today, Sadaf products can be found in all 50 states, reaching families from diverse backgrounds — whether they are cooking Persian stews, Lebanese mezze, Turkish tea, or simply looking to bring bold, authentic flavors to everyday meals.

Our customer base has evolved just as our assortment has. From immigrant families seeking a taste of home, to adventurous cooks discovering new spices, to health-conscious food lovers embracing clean, global ingredients — Sadaf connects people through flavor.
